Palabra del Día – matricularse

by Duende on March 15, 2010

matricularse – to enrol, to matriculate, to register

mah-tree-koo-LAHR-say; verbo

Ejemplo:
She will enrol at the university tomorrow.
Ella se matriculará en la universidad mañana.

El último paso para un nuevo médico es matricularse como tal.
The final step for a new physician is to register as such.

In both examples above, the Spanish reflexive concept is understood in the English translation.  Thus, “…will enrol herself…” and “…register him or herself…” are less-fluid but accurate translations of the Spanish reflexive verb.
